Slow And Steady Wins The Race

www.visuallearningresources.com

Have you ever heard of Aesop’s fable, “The Tortoise and the Hare”? The Tortoise wins the race even though the Hare is much faster. It is all in the strategy.

The moral of this story is to keep your eyes focused on the goal, and you will eventually win the race if not giving up. Let’s look at the mindset of both the Tortoise and the Hare.

Hare: The Hare simply repeated a goal he had already mastered. There’s no real purpose other than defeating the Tortoise. In fact, the Hare lost sight of his vision and wasted time on a goal that had already been accomplished, just to feel good about himself. He’s producing “quantity”, not “quality”.

Tortoise: The Tortoise knew he had to shift his mindset to master the goal of winning the race. He is typically the slowest creature. However, the Tortoise put together a strategy and stuck to a plan to become the first one to cross the finish line beating the Hare. The Tortoise reached his goal because there’s a vision and plan in place to get to the final outcome.

Goals may seem like they can be a long stretch to the finish line. However, if we teach students to focus on one goal at a time, slow and steady will win the race. Students can learn to apply sound strategies, make changes when necessary, and stick it out to the finish line.

Let Visual Learning Resources give you the resources that are needed to teach students “how to be like the Tortoise”. Visit www.visuallearningresources.com to view our modules. We believe in goal setting so much that we even give you the handouts needed to make this happen.

Slow and steady wins the race!

Prayer for the week:

Heavenly Father, help these teachers see the purpose in goal setting not only for themselves, but also their students. You are the ultimate goal Master! Open their minds to teach students how to set and master goals by carrying them to the finish line no matter how hard and long the road. Let teachers know You made them for this very purpose, to make a difference. Bless all teachers and students this upcoming week. Amen.

Have a Blessed week,
