Have You Prayed Today?

The most important part of my day is to start it with a prayer. This time allows me to quiet my mind and focus on the things that are important while letting go of the small stuff. When I take time to pray, it seems that most everything falls into place; I tend to utilize my time a lot wiser. I guess you could say prayer orchestrates my entire day.

When I taught in a public school setting, I found myself fervently praying on a daily basis. So, I formed a prayer group. A handful of teachers and staff prayed together for students, families, and other needs before the school day began. Once others knew the group started the day with prayer, staff began stopping by to ask if students, families, or other situations could be added to our morning prayer list. Some teachers joined in for an occasional prayer, while others simply asked for prayer to meet a more specific need. Most of all, everyone who stopped by saw the value of prayer and how it can change an entire day.

Prayer is a BIG part of who we are and how VLR conducts our business.

Sometimes I feel the need to pray individual prayers. I begin by asking God to help me work through a particular situation. Or, a parent might confidentially share some information with me that simply needs a quiet prayer. When teaching a classroom of students, I made it a point to pray over every students’ desk before they entered the classroom (usually stopping to pray a little longer for the student who is challenging). There have even been times throughout my career that the day before “was the last day I saw them”, all too often for some unsettled reason.

If you are homeschooling students, begin your day with prayer. You may choose to pray as a parent before your school day begins. It would be advantageous to involve your children to join you in prayer during a morning routine. Once prayer becomes an important part of the day, your children will pray what is on their hearts. It is a way to teach them the importance and value prayer can have on our daily lives.

We pray daily for YOU!

Teacher Prayer For You!

Dear Heavenly Father, we at VLR ask that you be with every teacher and parent who has chosen to homeschool. Let each one of them know they are valuable and appreciated. Lord, teaching is no easy task and a BIG commitment. Put an extra hedge of protection around those students who are especially difficult, including those learning at home. With Your mighty hand, show each teacher how to conduct their day through encouragement and positivity rather than negative talk. Let them remember it is ok to take a pause to say, “Help!” May teachers feel your awesome Grace today. We thank You for Your goodness

~ Amen

We at VLR believe in the Power of Prayer.

We encourage you to take the time to pray for your students, as well as yourself, this week.

Remember, we will be praying for you too!
