Show Me The Details So I Can Write With Expression!

It snowed quite a bit over the weekend. As I look out the window, it warms my heart to see the beautiful white powder on the ground. In one way, it is refreshing to look at the covering which has been untouched by footprints. But when I think about shoveling, now that is a whole different story! Some people like the snow, others do not. This ultimately reminds me how students feel when working through the writing process.

Realistically, it isn’t long before the “perfect” untouched snow scene is disturbed by some form of footprints, or in my case, sculptures decorating the yard. If we were to relate these snowmen to the writing process, it might look something like this:
